74-year-old killed in Lincoln County crash

A 74-year-old Hickory man named Ilie Nastase died after failing to stop at a stop sign in Lincoln County on Monday morning. His vehicle collided with another car and ran off the roadway, striking signs and a utility pole before he was airlifted to Atrium Health Main in Charlotte. Emergency services evaluated the passenger and the other driver, but state troopers reported that no charges will be filed.
