Diabetes patients in Mississippi previously received regular care through subsidized Affordable Care Act health insurance plans. Federal enhanced subsidies, which were temporary measures extended by the American Rescue Plan Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, expired at the end of last year. The expiration forced over 200,000 Mississippians to give up their coverage, causing a rise in diabetics without routine care.
