The problem with an AI tutor: Students don’t want to use it

A new study found that middle school students rarely used an AI-powered tutor, like Khanmigo, even when given the option. Although students using Khan Academy demonstrated faster math gains than a comparison group, researchers concluded these benefits did not appear to originate from the AI technology itself. The investigation reported that student engagement with the chatbot was often thin or nonexistent.
