Indonesians brave choking smoke to pray for rain as country battles wildfires
Wildfires across South Sumatra and central Indonesian regions have generated a choking haze, prompting residents in Palembang to perform a special Islamic prayer for rain called “salat istisqa.” Authorities are tackling the blazes using ongoing firefighting efforts, cloud-seeding operations, and have also arrested individuals suspected of starting forest fires.
