Montgomery Co. schools begin review that could lead to closures, boundary changes

Due to declining enrollment projections, Montgomery County Public Schools is undergoing a two-year, two-phase study considering elementary and middle school closures and consolidations. Phase 1 begins in the 2026-27 school year, followed by a boundary study starting in the 2027-28 school year. Any resulting changes would begin implementation in the 2029-30 school year.
