Unions sue over new rules expanding feds power to fire workers

Seven federal employee unions sued the Office of Personnel Management, challenging new rules that give the office expanded power to fire workers without proper due process. The 'Suitability Rule' allows OPM to take negative actions based on post-appointment conduct and replaces existing review processes with an appeal solely to OPM itself. Additionally, the unions are also challenging a separate rule requiring standardized distributions of performance ratings for federal employees.
