Georgia school district accused of illegally delaying enrollment of foster children

The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services accuses Muscogee County Schools of delaying the enrollment of foster children in violation of state and federal law. The disagreement stems from MCSD's interpretation of Senate Bill 431, which DFCS argues wrongly requires only case managers to enroll students, excluding other approved personnel. This alleged unlawful practice has resulted in more than 30 students missing the first week of classes.
