Trash to treat: Scientists are baking with plastic waste

Researchers have developed a process using programmed yeast to transform plastic pollution and agricultural waste into edible, protein-rich foods. The method converts materials like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and discarded biomass into proteins, vitamins, and flavorings. This development aims simultaneously to reduce global plastic pollution while also addressing future food security challenges.
