Mamdani administration set to pitch multi-billion-dollar plan to fix BQE’s crumbling cantilever

Zohran Mamdani’s Department of Transportation plans to propose a $3.5 to $4 billion rehabilitation plan for the BQE Central section, which runs through Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, and Downtown Brooklyn. The project aims to repair the aging triple cantilever structure using temporary bypass roads over a 10-year construction period, projected to finish by 2040.
