Race cars speed through D.C. in finale of Trump-backed Freedom 250 series

The Freedom 250 Grand Prix, the final event of a series organized by President Donald Trump to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States, took place in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026. Over two dozen IndyCar racers traveled a 1.66-mile course down Pennsylvania and Independence avenues. The event featured military displays, including flyovers by Air Force One and B-2 bombers.
