Fast-moving wildfire amid shifting winds threatens Reno, Nevada, forcing thousands to evacuate

A fast-moving wildfire, called the Hawk Fire, destroyed homes in northwest Reno, Nevada, forcing authorities to urge thousands of residents to evacuate across multiple zones. The fire, which grew over 23 square miles in the Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest, was reported as human-caused. Authorities declared a state of emergency and mobilized the Nevada National Guard.
