Some transit riders not paying fare or fines

A state auditor reported that many Charlotte transit riders are not paying fares or fines. The audit noted that in 2025, CATS issued 2018 tickets for fare evasion but collected only $550 in revenue. These findings concern the state of public transit security in Charlotte.
