Hurricane Lala brought 1.3 trillion gallons of water to the state of Hawaii. Though it never made landfall, its close pass resulted in an average statewide rainfall of 11.4 inches. Researchers from the University of Hawaii calculated that Hawaiʻi County received 66 percent of this total volume.
