Detroit school board appoints 25-year-old youth advocate as its newest member

Jeremiah Steen, a 25-year-old youth advocate, was appointed to the Detroit Public Schools Community District board to fill a seat left vacant after the death of Iris Taylor. During his term, Steen intends to focus on workforce development and ensuring high school students receive credentials that lead to economic mobility. He hopes this appointment encourages other young people in Detroit to get involved with the city’s school district.
