Minneapolis Park and Rec Board considers $160M budget and a higher tax levy rate

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) reaffirmed its request for a 5.86% levy increase to support its $160 million budget, stating this rate is essential for providing full service to the City of Minneapolis. The board warns that without this proposed rate, they would have to cut approximately 26 jobs and reduce park maintenance. Mayor Jacob Frey countered with a proposal of only a 2.5% increase, suggesting administrative consolidation instead.
