Trump's top federal prosecutor in L.A. could face new challenge after appellate ruling
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Department of Justice cannot maintain an official in charge of a U.S. attorney's office if that person has not been confirmed by the Senate. This status cannot be circumvented simply by giving the individual a different title and the full powers associated with the job.
