Hampton leaders cool to limited Army Corps flood solutions

A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers draft feasibility study proposes a $4.2 billion Coastal Storm Risk Management plan, suggesting elevating nearly 4,000 structures in Hampton and Poquoson. However, Hampton’s city manager criticized the required local funding share, calling it “pretty staggering,” and asserted that structural solutions, such as floodwalls, are absolutely necessary despite being excluded from the current study due to congressional funding caps.
