Alex Murdaugh retrial could be coming to York or Lancaster counties

Judge Deborah McCaslin moved Alex Murdaugh's retrial out of the 14th Judicial Circuit starting April 5, 2027, citing intense bias within the Lowcountry community. While defense attorneys have sought Charleston County, Attorney General Charlie Condon stated that York County might be more appropriate due to population size and cost considerations.
