A British firm starts containment of oil spill from stricken tanker off Oman

A British company, Ambrey, has been hired to salvage the grounded Russian tanker Caroline Bezengi off Oman's coast and stop an oil spill threatening a marine protected area. The vessel was grounded near Qabiliyah Island following an explosion of unclear cause, and satellite images show the oil has spread exponentially over hundreds of square kilometers. Authorities confirmed the spill has reached Ras Madrakah and may continue spreading toward Masirah Island.
