Storms knock out power to 4,000+ in Monroe, close down several streets

A strong storm cell knocked down trees in power lines in the Monroe area, causing power outages for more than 4,100 customers on Thursday night. The resulting damage was primarily near Newtown Road and Clarence Secrest Road west of the city, leading to road closures.
