Couple charged after malnourished girl with autism escaped locked room to find food, police say

Brandon and Emily Myers were charged with child endangerment after police rescued a severely malnourished juvenile girl with autism who was locked in her bedroom without food, water, or restroom access. Officers found that the door had an external locking mechanism installed backward and screws had been placed on the window frame. The search revealed neglectful living conditions, including no source of food or water in the bedroom.
