A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, severely damaging thousands of buildings and killing scores of people. The epicenter was located in San José del Palmar, within the northwestern department of Chocó. Tremors were also felt in Bogotá and nearby Venezuela.
