According to a report by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli of Department of Environmental Conservation, records spanning 2021 to 2023 showed that nearly a third of reports from refuse facilities were missing. The audit focused on inbound single stream recyclable trash deliveries, exemplified by piles of about 300 tons of such material.
