California sued over policy that could free serial killers as Laci Peterson's friend sounds alarm
Victim families in California are suing a parole board policy that would recommend resentencing or clemency for convicts serving life without parole, including serial killers and mass shooters. Anne Marie Schubert of the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation (CJLF) argued the Board exceeded its statutory authority by trying to rewrite sentencing laws. The lawsuit contends this new system violates Marsy's Law and compromises the finality of judgments for victims.
