Florida woman accused of faking cancer to scam hundreds out of $40K, police say

A Florida woman was arrested on charges of grand theft after authorities determined she had falsely claimed to have cancer and scammed over 200 people out of more than $40,000 for her personal debts. Maribeth Ellen Jones was charged in Collier County for the alleged fraud, which occurred between 2022 and 2024.
