Iranian-affiliated hackers reportedly targeted over 30 community water systems in Minnesota with a coordinated cyberattack. This attack exploited fundamental security weaknesses, highlighting systemic vulnerabilities in essential services nationwide. The Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Inspector General previously found critical or high-risk cybersecurity vulnerabilities at numerous drinking-water systems.
