Newsom says national support ‘crucial’ for Democrats to win Michigan’s U.S. Senate race

California Gov. Gavin Newsom visited Oakland County to support Democratic candidates Sarah Pounds and Alex Hawkins for the Michigan House, while also planning to meet with Abdul El-Sayed about the U.S. Senate race. Newsom stressed that winning the Senate requires not only party support within Michigan but also outside assistance. Republican gubernatorial nominee John James reacted to the visit by suggesting California is detrimental to Michigan.
