Popular Southern California beach loses most of its sand to hurricane swells

Powerful swells from Hurricane Genevieve have transformed a popular Southern California beach, stripping away much of its sand and damaging portions of a parking lot. Tamarack State Beach in Carlsbad has been battered by strong surf and high tides, which exposed large rocks along the shoreline and required officials to close the area.
