Bought gift cards as a customer but realized was being scammed, what to do?

A customer bought multiple Apple gift cards and gift items at Target after being messaged by an individual claiming to be a colleague. After sending photos of the purchased items and realizing they were asked to remove the gift card contents for pictures, the buyer determined they had been scammed.
