Teen sentenced in Oakland Park stolen car crash that killed mother

Jah Kobe Bessent, who was 15 during a 2022 crash in Oakland Park, pleaded guilty to killing Maria Tellez-Valderrabano. The fatal incident occurred when police were chasing him after he had stolen a white Mercedes sedan following a burglary in Fort Lauderdale. As punishment, Bessent was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation.
