Hamtramck councilman sentenced to probation after election fraud conviction

Hamtramck City Councilman Mohammed Hassan was sentenced to one year of probation and 80 hours of community service after being found guilty of making a false statement on an absentee ballot application. The misdemeanor conviction related to the submission of an absentee ballot application using the name of Zerin Sultana, who testified she did not request or sign the ballot. Hassan remains a member of the Hamtramck City Council.
