Republican lawmaker DJ Swearingen drops out of Ohio House race

Northeast Ohio lawmaker DJ Swearingen has withdrawn from his Ohio House race for the fall to pursue a potential new opportunity with the federal government. Swearingen announced that he will not seek reelection as state representative for Ohio House District 89 in the November 2026 election. He emphasized that local party officials must replace him on the ballot so voters can choose a Republican nominee.
