Fuego volcano activity that triggered evacuations in Guatemala is decreasing, but risks remain

Activity at Guatemala’s Fuego volcano is gradually decreasing, but authorities warned the public that rainfall could still trigger potentially deadly volcanic mudflows known as lahars. The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction urged caution and stressed that despite some people returning home, eruptive activity continues. Approximately 1,700 people were evacuated from at least 18 communities on the slopes of Fuego.
