Firefighters get a handle on Spokane wildfires as tens of thousands remain evacuated
Firefighters have established containment lines around three wildfires near Spokane, Washington, which were caused by arson and other human factors, destroying 850 buildings and displacing 67,000 people. Evacuations remain in effect for many as hot, dry weather threatens progress, though some residents have been allowed to return. The fires include the arson-caused Old Trails Fire and the Autumn Lane and Fairview fires, which started independently.
