Central Europe swelters and Slovakia and Austria hit their record high temperatures

Slovakia and Austria recorded new record high temperatures during a severe heat wave, with Slovakia's Kamenica nad Hronom reaching 41.4°C and Austria's Bad Deutsch-Altenburg hitting 41.2°C. The Czech Republic and Hungary also set all-time highs earlier in the summer, as Europe experiences an exceptionally hot and dry season linked to rapid climate change.
