Young giraffe at Detroit Zoo euthanized after sustaining serious injuries from herd interaction

A young male giraffe named Nguvu at the Detroit Zoo was euthanized after sustaining serious injuries during a herd interaction in the outdoor habitat. The zoo's animal care and veterinary teams provided extensive care, but his condition deteriorated. Another giraffe, Okidi, was euthanized earlier this year following injuries from a habitat viewing panel incident.
