New images of the sun show its surface in the finest detail yet

Scientists used the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope to capture the highest-resolution images of the sun's surface yet, revealing feathery patterns caused by magnetized plasma ripples. The findings, published in Nature, aim to improve tracking of solar storms that can disrupt Earth's communications.
