Spurt in chikungunya cases highlights need to check vector population

As of August 4, 105 confirmed and 62 probable chikungunya cases have been reported in the State, primarily in Thiruvananthapuram. The increase is linked to intense monsoon rainfall and hot weather fostering Aedes mosquito populations.
