Morganton intersection upgraded after students struck by vehicles

Safety improvements were made to a Morganton intersection after two incidents where students from the North Carolina School of Science and Math were struck by vehicles. The crosswalk was rebuilt, the speed limit was lowered to 35 mph, new warning signs and a traffic signal were added, and a pedestrian island is being constructed. Officials from the school, city, and state collaborated on the project.
