Japan tests long-range Type 12 missile as counterstrike capability against China grows

Japan has begun flight testing the air-launched variant of its upgraded Type 12 anti-ship missile, which has a reported range of 1,000km, as part of efforts to counter Chinese warships. Photographs from Gifu airbase on July 30 showed an F-2B fighter carrying inert missile prototypes, marking the first public confirmation of the test.
