Champlin man charged with launching fireworks near Sen. John Hoffman’s house

Jeffery Scott Maciej, a Champlin resident, faces harassment and disorderly conduct charges after allegedly setting off fireworks near the home of State Sen. John Hoffman on July 4. Security footage captured Maciej referencing Hoffman and his daughter, Hope, during the incident, which the Hoffmans linked to traumatic memories of a prior assassination attempt. The couple previously obtained a restraining order against Maciej over past disputes.
