US senators advanced Trump’s former personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, in his bid for attorney general after a deal with Republican holdouts. Blanche scrapped a controversial $1.8 billion fund from the administration’s settlement of a lawsuit brought by the president and has served as acting attorney general since his predecessor’s resignation in April.
