National Park Service says Trump’s proposed arch could diminish historic Washington landmarks
The National Park Service assessed that President Donald Trump's proposed 250-foot Triumphal Arch near Arlington National Cemetery would have adverse effects on historic landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Washington Monument. The review identified nearly 40 affected sites and found a smaller arch design would worsen the impact. The US Commission of Fine Arts approved the design with edits, and the National Capital Planning Commission approved preliminary plans.
