Pennsylvania pediatricians want to help improve child literacy rates by ‘prescribing’ books at health visits

Pennsylvania pediatricians, including Dr. Trude Haecker at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), are giving books to children during health visits to improve literacy and school readiness. The initiative, part of the national Reach Out and Read program, aims to expand across the state with over 1,000 pediatricians already participating.
