State officials investigating after man dies at Mecklenburg County jail

A 59-year-old man, Todd Williams, died at Mecklenburg County jail after being found unresponsive in his cell. He was taken to a hospital but died hours later, prompting an investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation and the county sheriff’s office. Williams had been in custody since July 27.
