‘Kids are actually eating the food’: State expands lunch program that pairs schools with farms

California's Farm to School program, which connects schools with local food producers and provides grants for fresh meals, field trips, and culinary training, has been expanded permanently. The program, now part of the Department of Food and Agriculture, has seen success with students enthusiastically eating diverse, locally sourced foods and has received over $1 billion in state funding since 2021.
