Officer found guilty after encouraging family to whip handcuffed 15-year-old with belt

An Ohio police officer was found guilty of dereliction of duty after allowing a handcuffed 15-year-old boy in her custody to be whipped with a belt by an adult. The officer, Jamie Patterson, testified she acted in good faith but admitted to recommending corporal punishment multiple times. She faces up to 90 days in jail and a $750 fine on each of two counts.
