Brazil Tax ID Goes Alphanumeric for New Companies

Brazil's tax authority, Receita Federal, began issuing alphanumeric CNPJ numbers for new company registrations starting July 1, 2026. The change is mandated by Normative Instruction IN RFB nº 2.229/2024, maintaining 14-character CNPJs with the first 12 positions now allowing letters.
