Armenian PM Pashinyan Resigns in Procedural Move

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his cabinet officially resigned on Aug. 2 as a constitutional requirement triggered by the newly elected National Assembly. His Civil Contract party won a parliamentary majority in the June 7 elections, and he is expected to be re-nominated by the president. The elections endorsed his strategy to reduce Armenia’s reliance on Russia and deepen ties with the EU.
