Labour's Bev Craig is elected Greater Manchester mayor to succeed Andy Burnham
Bev Craig of the Labour Party was elected mayor of Greater Manchester with 66.3% of votes in a runoff against Sian Astley from Reform UK. The election followed Andy Burnham's departure to become prime minister and saw a 25% voter turnout, the lowest since 2017. Craig, former leader of Manchester City Council, succeeded Burnham, who had held the mayoral role for nine years.
